Who is in the running to be the new captain of the white ball of England?

England is looking for a new white ball captain after the resignation of Jos Buttler a fortnight ago and the director of Men’s Cricket Rob Key is considering all the options.

Here, the AD news agency examines which is within the framework.

Harry Brook

The most likely candidate considering his age, profile and recent withdrawal from the Indian Premier League, allowing him a little time to stop in front of a gigantic a few months. An entirely format regular that has a lot on his plate, Brook fought in India and the Champions Trophy. But his pedigree is indisputable, he was assistant to buttler and impressed as a stand-in skipper against Australia last September.

Ben Stokes

Stokes has excelled beyond all expectations leading the test side and could have an equally transformative impact if it takes the ODI reins, leaving Brook Libre for the T20 coat. But with the crucial tests of England to come, can they afford to roll the dice with its physical shape after serious knee and hamstrings in the past two years? Key thinks it would be “stupid” not to consider the versatile, whose last outing for England in colorful clothes was at the 2023 World Cup.

Phil Salt

A dashing opener who seems to be tailor-made for the philosophy of “Bazball”, he could well frolic with the head coach Brendon McCullum and would be available for each assignment because he is not in the configuration of the test. But, after having made only fifty of its last 11 outings, its place in the side is to be debated, especially in the ODI. This could be better suited to supervise the T20 team only, as it did against Australia last year.

Liam Livingstone

As with salt, Livingstone could find its place in the threatened ODI part after a modest start until 2025, with its selection of shooting in the difficult role of finishing the highly criticized sleeves. But a brief spell of captain in the Caribbean before Christmas brought the best of him because a 124 sparkling in Antigua helped England affirm what would prove to be their only ODI victory during the winter.

Ben Duckett

One of the rare strikers to emerge from the lamentable race of England since the start of the year on credit, cement as their first match through the three formats. More than an unknown quantity as a captain and, as with Brook, England should be careful to add to the left -wing responsibilities during a busy year.

Sam Curran

England has not excluded to look outside the current configuration and Curran’s actions have increased from the team. Player of the tournament in the triumph of the T20 2022 World Cup in England, the lack of Curran’s rhythm apparently left it in the cold at that time. But the left weapon Ruse can be a difference for the doors of 90 mph and it has an experience of captain in the Indian Premier League and in Surrey.
