Tiger Woods operated on the Achilles Rompu tendon

Tiger Woods faces another spell out of action after revealing that he underwent surgery for a broken Achilles tendon.

The 15 -time winner has not yet appeared on the PGA Tour this season and his last setback puts his participation in the Masters next month seriously.

Woods wrote on X: “While I was starting to accelerate my own training and my practice at home, I felt a great pain in my left Achille, which was deemed broken.

“This morning, Dr. Charlton Starden du (The) Hospital for Special Surgery in West Palm Beach, Florida, has repaired the Achille Mini-Invasive tendon for a broken tendon.

“” The surgery went well and we expect a full recovery, “added Dr. Stucken.

“I’m back home now and I plan to focus on my recovery and rehabilitation, thank you for all the support.”

It is not known how long the former world number one of 49 years, which has been hampered by a succession of fitness problems in recent years, will be absent.

Its only appearances in golf this year were in the new TGL in the room.

The five -time winner of the Masters was to play in Genesis Invitational from last month – a tournament he organized – but took time after the death of his mother.
