Man Utd unveils to build a new 100,000 -seat stadium to replace Old Trafford

Manchester United has announced plans for a new stadium of 100,000 seats which, according to the co -owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe would be the “biggest” “world of the world” football field.

The Premier League club has examined redeveloping its Old Trafford house or building a new stadium in the same area in collaboration with the Old Trafford regeneration working group.

United has now confirmed their “intention to continue a new stadium of 100,000 seats as a centerpiece of the regeneration of the Old Trafford region” as they throw their “support behind the government’s growth agenda”.

Ratcliffe estimated that a new stadium would cost about 2 billion pounds Sterling when he discussed it last year and the director general of United, Omar Berrad, said on Tuesday that he was “quite confident” that the club would be able to obtain funding for the project.

Models on scale and conceptual images on how the new Old Trafford and the surrounding area could look like were revealed Tuesday morning at London’s headquarters Foster + Partners, appointed in September to design the stadium district.

“Today marks the start of an incredibly exciting trip to the delivery of what will be the largest football stadium in the world, at the center of a regenerated Old Trafford,” said Ratcliffe.

“Our current stadium has used us brilliantly in the past 115 years, but it has been late on the best arenas of world sport.

“By building alongside the existing site, we will be able to preserve the essence of Old Trafford, while creating a truly ultramodern stage which transforms the experience of fans only of our historic house.

“Equally important is the opportunity for a new stage to be the catalyst for social and economic renewal of the Old Trafford region, creating jobs and investments not only during the construction phase, but on a lasting basis when the stadium district is finished.

“The government has identified the investment of infrastructure as a strategic priority, in particular in the north of England, and we are proud to support this mission with this project of national and local service.”

The move to a new land was supported by the former boss of United, Sir Alex Ferguson.

“Manchester United should always seek the best in everything it does, on and off the field, and that includes the stadium in which we play,” said Ferguson.

“Old Trafford holds so many special memories for me personally, but we must be courageous and seize this opportunity to build a new house, adapted to the future, where a new story can be made.”

Lord Sebastian Coe chaired the working group and said on Tuesday on Tuesday “an important step forward in what I firmly believe may be the largest and most exciting urban regeneration project in the United Kingdom since the London 2012 Olympic Games”.

Andy Burnham, the mayor of the Grand Manchester, was part of the working group and thinks that a new stadium at the heart of the region’s regeneration can benefit the city, the region and the whole country.

He said: “If we get things right, the impact of regeneration could be greater and better than London 2012.”

United Estimate the stadium and the wider regeneration project has the potential to add an additional 7.3 billion pounds sterling each year to the British economy, with the possibility of creating more than 17,000 houses and 92,000 jobs.

Berrada says that the club’s long -term goal is to have “the best world football team in the best stadium in the world”.

“We have carefully examined the results (from the working group), as well as the views of thousands of fans and local residents and have concluded that a new stage is the right track for Manchester United and our surrounding community,” he said.

“We will now embark on an additional consultation to make sure that fans and residents continue to be heard while we are heading for final decisions.”

United said that Foster + Partners’ work “will provide a master’s plan for feasibility, consultation, design and more detailed planning, because the project enters a new phase.”
