England will face Australia during a day test in Melbourne in 2027 to mark the 150th anniversary of the test cricket.
The 150th anniversary, which will take place from March 11 to 15, 2027 – a little more than a year after the Ashes of winter – will be the first pink ball confrontation for the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
Australia beaten England in female Ashes earlier this year during the first night test played on the ground.
The MCG hosted the first test match in 1877 and the centenary test in 1977, both won Australia by 45 points.
Announcing the match, the director general of Cricket Australia, Todd Greenberg, said: “The 150th anniversary of the MCG will be one of the major cricket events and playing under the lights will be a fantastic way to celebrate both the modern evolution of our game and cricket cricket.
“The Ashes series of this season will appear for this confrontation in exactly two years, and we are impatient to celebrate this historic opportunity further as it approaches.”
England will go to Australia later this year for a series of five -game Ashes that begins in Perth in November.
