William Saliba says that he is “really happy” at Arsenal and that he has put the obstacle to the victory of the trophies at the club.
Saliba will have two years on his contract at the end of this season and was linked to a move to Real Madrid.
The defender did not confirm any conferences on a new agreement with Arsenal which had still taken place, but he is relaxed about the situation.
Saliba wants to stay in Arsenal and cement his heritage there by helping the club win major trophies.
“For me, I’m really happy here,” he said. “I have been here for two and a half years too. There is nothing. I am happy here and I want to continue here.
“I want to gain great things with Arsenal. If you leave this club without winning anything, the fans will forget you. I want to earn great things here.
When asked if contractual interviews had still taken place, Saliba said: “Not yet. Because, yes, we have a few years [to go]. There is therefore no precipitation per minute. I’m happy here. That’s it. “
Saliba also wants to become the best defender in the world.
The 23 -year -old has criticized his own performances this season and thinks that his central defender partner Gabriel has surpassed him.
“I want to be one day the best defender in the world,” said Saliba. “I know that I have to work a lot and win trophies too – but it’s my dream.
“I think I’m not so far, but I’m not the best at the moment because for me, this season, I haven’t been so good. I have to see my season again, I have to work on my game.
“But this season, I haven’t been so good. In particular, I have to look at my partner, Gabriel, who was so good this season. There are a few [defenders better than me]But of course, I have to focus on myself and work more.
“My concentration [I need to improve]I have to mark more and help my team win trophies.
“When you win trophies, you can say that you are the best. We have not won and this season, I have not helped my team much to win trophies, but we are still in the Champions League, the Premier League is not over. So I have to push, to demand more of me to help my team. »»
